For the second time in three games, the Euclid Lady Panther Basketball team faced off against the Blue Devils from Brunswick High School.  Euclid opened the season at Brunswick on January 13th and came home with a 34-73 loss.  Brunswick made the return trip last night, taking on the Panthers inside of Doc Daugherty Gymnasium for the first home game of the season for Euclid.  This game told a whole new story than the first meeting with Brunswick pulling away late and beating the Panthers by a final score of 37-49.

It was apparent early on that this was already an improved team than when these two first met.  The Lady Panthers were aggressive and took advantage of mismatches created by senior forward Alexis Reese inside.  Reese went for 6 first quarter points, dominating the paint on offense and on the boards.  Erin Miller canned a three pointer in the opening frame and after one quarter, Euclid led Brunswick 12-9.

The second quarter saw Yajhaira Reid take over the game using her quickness and soft touch around the rim on her way to 7 second quarter points.  Alexis Reese added five more in the second quarter to give her 11 in the opening half and help the Panthers go into the locker room at halftime with a 26-17 lead.

The second half saw the Lady Panthers offense begin to col off as shots did not fall.  Meanwhile Brunswick was able to find a rhythm and connect on some of their long range attempts. Euclid managed just 11 points total in the second half.  Brunswick took the lead late in the third quarter and were able to hold off the Panthers.  Euclid fell to a final score of 37-49.

Leading Euclid was Alexis Reese with 13 points, Erin Miller had 12 and Yajhaira Reid tallied 9.

Euclid (0-3, 0-3 GCC) will return to the court on Wednesday January 20th as they travel to Strongsville to take on the Mustangs.
