The Euclid Lady Panther Basketball Team opened their season Saturday afternoon with a comfortable 55-34 win over Garfield Heights.
After a tight first quarter which saw Euclid hold onto a 12-9 lead, the Panthers picked up the defensive pressure and were able to force Garfield into turnovers and created multiple fast break opportunities. Euclid poured in 18 second quarter points and opened up a 30-21 halftime lead. The third quarter saw the Panthers score another 17 points and this time the defense held Garfield to to only 4 points in the quarter to head into the final frame with a comfortable 47-25 advantage. Euclid closed the game out and did not allow Garfield to get within 18 points the remainder of the game, making the final score 55-34 for a season opening win for the Lady Panthers.
Leading the Panthers in the score column was Senior Yajhaira Reid with a game high 17 points. Fellow Senior guard
Erin Miller added 15 points of her own.
Roz Evans and
Joy Byous each added 7 for the Panthers.
Euclid goes to 1-0 on the season and travels to Eastlake North for their next game on Wednesday November 24th.
