An early season test for the Panthers came in the form of a top team in the area, the Brush Arcs.  Euclid battled all game and kept the Arcs within striking distance but could not get over the hump in a 73-57 loss.

A slow start in the first quarter dug a hole that the Panthers just could not climb all the way out of over the course of the game.  Euclid managed just four made field goals in the opening frame and trailed the Arcs 23-10 after the opening quarter.  Clayton Cunningham and Michael Patterson each hit a triple in the first quarter and Jaden Wanton and Cam smith added in short range buckets.

The offense started to heat up in the second quarter behind Senior Jaden Wanton's 8 second quarter points.  The Panthers turned up the defensive pressure and forced Brush into turnovers leading to easy buckets in transition.  The Panthers did not make a three in the second quarter but powered their way to the rim with 7 two point goals.  Smith and Cunningham each made a pair of free throws and the Panthers nearly doubled their first quarter output in the second, scoring 18 points in the quarter to keep themselves in the game.  Going into halftime the score was 42-28 in favor of Brush.

The third quarter played out in a similar way as the second with the Panthers using defense to feed their offense.  Patterson and Cunningham connected on another three pointer each but Brush continued to make big shot after big shot each time Euclid would start to cut into the lead.  After three quarters, the score was 58-43 Brush.

Euclid did not roll over in the fourth quarter. Instead they continued to fight and cut the lead down to 11 but missed shots on consecutive possessions to cut the lead down to single digits.  Cunningham made two more threes in the final frame giving him 4 made triples on the night.  Devin Bennings buried a three in the final quarter as well. In the end, Brush made enough plays to keep Euclid at arms length and top the Panthers by a final score of 57-73. 

Clayton Cunningham led Euclid with 16 points, Jaden Wanton scored 10, and Devin Bennings had 9.

The JV game was another closely contested contest seeing Brush take down Euclid by a final score of 55-64.

The Panther boys' hoops team returns to Doc Daugherty Gymnasium on Tuesday January 19th for a matchup with Notre Dame Cathedral Latin.  JV tip is at 5:30pm.
